Cristina and Nick said “I do” on the dreamiest wedding day. They were surrounded by ethereal, Italian-inspired decor, the kind of light that makes real life feel like cinema, and so much love that it seemed to fill every single inch of the venue. Their venue, Chalet View Lodge, is one of those luxury wedding locations that you can’t find just anywhere, and for Cristina and Nick’s wedding, it was beautifully decorated with some 2026 wedding trends that I’m already in love with. This guide will give you wedding inspiration galore, as well as a look into Chalet View Lodge and some of my favorite 2026 wedding trends as a California wedding photographer.

Chalet View Lodge feels like its own little world. You’re tucked away in the Lost Sierra, and the only reminder you’re still in California is the backdrop, with those unreal mountain views and tall pines you won’t find anywhere else. It’s the kind of place that’s both high-end and laid-back, which makes it perfect for couples who want a wedding that feels luxe but still personal.

Here are a few main things you need to know about the venue, to make sure it fits your overall vision:
The best part of this venue, hands-down, is its flexibility in helping you plan your unique experience. At Chalet View Lodge, they understand that it’s your day and your vision, and they truly will go above and beyond to help you execute it perfectly. Here are some of my favorite ways that they do so:

Whether you’re planning an indoor or outdoor wedding, an intimate wedding or a large-scale celebration, or a simple wedding or a luxurious one, Chalet View Lodge has a space that will fit exactly what you’re going for. Each area at the venue serves as a blank canvas, ready for you to make the mark of your personality on it.
The pond at Chalet View Lodge creates a serene, romantic backdrop for a wedding ceremony. There’s something already so magical about a waterfront ceremony, and the fact that this pond is also surrounded by towering California trees somehow makes it even more beautiful.
Photographer tip: Don’t sleep on this spot for portraits or a first look. The light reflects off the water in the prettiest way, and it gives you this tucked-away, intimate vibe that feels like your own little secret. I love sneaking couples over here for private vows too. It’s quiet, it’s romantic, and it makes for photos you’ll be obsessed with forever.

For more of that charming, rustic feel, the brewery provides a cozy spot for an intimate, indoor wedding. I can easily picture a small winter wedding inside the brewery, perfect for the more laid-back, casual couple.
Photographer tip: Sneaking away to the brewery can get you some adorable date night-esque photos!
Rolling lawns and tall, breathtaking trees create an absolutely beautiful blank slate for any style of wedding ceremony. The all-natural backdrop lets you put your own spin on it, no matter your wedding theme. It’s essentially an area that does all the work for you, but also lets you celebrate your unique style and personality.
Photographer tip: the golf course has so many little nooks that photograph beautifully. From wide-open ceremony spots to tucked-away corners for portraits, it’s basically an outdoor wedding playground. I always make it a point to hit a few different areas with couples here because the variety is just that good.

Whether you use it as a wedding spot or just an added amenity for you and your guests’ overnight stays, having a pool at your wedding venue is unmatched. Luxurious and calming, it makes a great spot to use on your wedding day (and maybe even end the night by jumping in)!
Photographer tip: The vibrant color of the pool is gorgeous for photos, and I love to get some candid shots of the couple around this area.
As a California wedding photographer, I’m already seeing clear trends pop up for 2026 weddings. And Cristina and Nick’s wedding had some trends that I’m in LOVE with, that you’ll definitely want to check out for your luxury wedding:
The two overall themes I’m seeing for 2026 weddings? Simple and elegant. Couples want the luxury and opulence of their day to shine through, and a minimalist color palette is a great way to do it. At Cristina and Nick’s wedding, this looked like every part of their day was surrounded by stunning white florals, with lighting elements that elevated every space.

Speaking of Cristina and Nick’s white florals, the design and placement of all of them were fantastic. The floral arch, the running centerpieces, and the arrangements atop columns? They all made such a statement.

We’re seeing monochrome everywhere for 2026 weddings, no matter the color. 2026 couples are keeping the palette simple with different accents all in the same color, and I seriously love it!

Live bands are back! All of my couples recently have had live music creating the soundtrack to their wedding day, and it’s something that elevates a ceremony so much.

We’re seeing simple, elegant wedding dresses everywhere. Pinterest, celebrity weddings, you name it! And for good reason, this bridal style is stunning. Cristina’s dress fit the trend perfectly: a simple, satin, fit-and-flare gown that genuinely looked like it was made for her.

Speaking of dresses, we’re seeing more and more reception dresses, carrying the trend over from 2025 to 2026. Designers have even started creating separates for brides to pair a short skirt with the same bodice for the reception, for those who want to continue the same bridal look but increase the comfort level (and dancing ability).

Why just spend one night celebrating when you can have a whole weekend? Cristina and Nick had a welcome party the night before, and had their favorite people stay at Chalet View Lodge with them through the weekend, and it was all so fun.

As a photographer, this is one of my favorite 2026 wedding trends. The parasols, either for guests or the bridal party, make for some adorable photos, and it’s a great way to add a little bit of extra luxury to your day.

Smaller, candlelit, family-style wedding dinners are a huge trend for 2026 weddings. People want their wedding to be more than just people watching them get married, and instead use it as a time to connect with their favorite people.

Adding standalone dance floors to a reception space (indoor or outdoor) is trending, and for good reason. We see a lot of checkerboard ones, but Cristina and Nick opted for a wooden one instead, which complemented their day perfectly.

Couples want their guests to enjoy their time and create a seamless timeline with no awkward transitions or fluff, deciding to integrate experiences for their guests. Some couples will choose a flash tattoo (or temporary tattoo) bar or lawn games, but Cristina and Nick opted for a phone booth with an audio guestbook. I was obsessed! It was the cutest, most meaningful touch to a magical day.

I will never have the words to express how much I loved this day. The couple reached out to me and shared their (adorable) love story, and told me their vision for their wedding day. Cristina poured her heart and soul into planning it, and it shows. They went for an Italian-style wedding theme, with every detail being an intentional nod to that. Their biggest focus for the day was celebrating with all the people they love, and it turned out so meaningful and sentimental!

There were so many happy tears, so much fun, and so much love. Cristina and Nick did private vows that were oh so romantic, they danced the night away (even the DJ extended their booked time to keep the party going!), and they ended the night by jumping in the pool. It was so fun and so beautiful, and you can tell that the couple really intentionally soaked in every single moment.

The vendors made the day flow so well, and I cannot recommend this group enough:
Florist: Helianthus Floral
Decor Rentals: The Champagne Socialist
Coordinator: Molly Carling
Catering: Blend Catering
Bar Service: Petite Street Bistro
Late-Night Bites: ZOE Coffee and Tacos
DJ: DJ Brock and Steele Weddings
Hair: Whitney Shutz
Makeup: Marissa Euan
